iPhone 6 Quest: Day 12

Day 12

Only 3 days left in this quest! Can’t believe we’re almost there. The days are getting shorter and the weather, well… crazier everyday. It usually begins with a very cold morning followed by a sunny and hot afternoon. Ending, of course, in a strangely chilly night that eventually turns into another cold autumn morning. No wonder why my throat is starting to hurt again.

iPhone 6 Quest: Day 9

Day 9

Another slow day. Last night Jonah stayed up until 3am trying to preorder the iPhone online, but he couldn’t. The Apple Store website was completely saturated and even crashed down for a couple of hours. When it came back up, Jonah could only find the iPhones available for delivery after the end of September… useless.

The days are passing by so fast that I cannot even finish all my daily tasks until after 6pm. It’s good, I guess, the fact that September 19th will come faster, that is; however, sometimes I feel like… time is consuming us.

When we first heard of this task we were very excited to come and up to now we still are, but every single day that passes we become more and more tired. We are exhausted. But anyways, we won’t give up. Only one week to go.

The bright side of this trip is that we are achieving our objective. Today, there were several people from Spain and from France that came and told us: “You are the guys from the news, we saw you on the news.” The Spanish couple even told me: “You are the guy from the RAVPower’s Youtube channel, right?”. We are spreading RAVPower to the world. This means that all our efforts are worth it.

Mrs. Nazan Isik and the RAVPower Team!

Today we received the visit of a very nice lady from Turkey, Mrs. Nazan Isik, who comes every single day to visit us and bring us goodies and food. Today we got wafers! She is a lovely person, an awesome writer, and a very good photographer. She says she considers herself part of the RAVPower team and… she really is! 🙂

Today we also received a new addition to our camping gear… the all new RAVPower Solar Charger! You’ll be able to get one of these online from our amazon store this November. We will now be able to harvest all the energy we need directly from the sun!

Weather Report: 80% rain for tomorrow morning, 8am.

Health Report: same old, same old… Jonah is healthy and I have a sore throat.

Good night everyone!

Cheers!

iPhone 6 Quest: Day 6

Day 6

Finally, the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch were announced today as well as the release date: September 19th, 2014, exactly 10 from today. This means, that this adventure is still far from over.

image

image

Today we got media from all over the world interviewing us. Big agencies, freelancers, bloggers, they all wanted to hear our story, especially the answer to the question… “Why are you camping out for a phone?” The problem was that they were here very early this morning, way before we woke up. Even Lauren Simonetti from Fox News twitted a photo of all of us sleeping and asking “Should I wake them up?”. Thankfully, she didn’t.

image

It is crazy how this iPhone 6 quest has escalated so quickly. A week ago no one knew who we were and today, our faces are all over the world in different languages.

image

image

About the iPhone, we’ve decided to each buy the 5.5″ iPhone 6 Plus with 128GB. I’m guessing that will be enough for us. We (mostly me) are a bit upset about the Apple Watch release date: beginning of 2015. I was excited to get one, but well… I guess I’ll have to wait, except that this time I will do it at home.

image

Health Report: Jonah is as healthy as a horse and me, well, I still have a sore throat.

Weather Report: cold, windy, and cloudy… perfect for camping out on the streets of New York City.

That’s it for tonight, I will continue tomorrow. Good night!

Cheers!

iPhone 6 Quest: Day 3

Day 3

This is really one of the busiest parts of the city. At least 100 people stop every hour to ask us why are we here.

“Are you here for the new iphone?” “Are you crazy?” “Are you guys for real?” “No way!”

However, it’s fun to talk to them. Jonah even began teasing them by saying that we are in line to use the bathroom inside the Apple store.

No media today, but we experienced the NY city labor day parade… FOR 4 HOURS STRAIGHT.

image

Health status: Jonah seems healthy but me, well… I feel like I’ll get sick very soon. It began raining a couple of hours ago, but thankfully we prepared a small fort to keep us warm and dry.

image

However, due to the strong wind, the fort ended up like this…

At least the rain stopped for now, but it’s quite windy and a bit cold.

We’ll try to get some sleep.

Cheers!

iPhone 6 Quest: Day 2

Day 2

First day in New York. We are starting to get used to the constant passing kf cars. We slept less than 2 hours last night thanks to well… sirens and people walking by all night long.

image

We borrowed a couple of chairs from some of the people in line.

Today was a media day of some sort, mostly cause we got interviewed by news agencies from all over the world.

The best part is that all pedestrians that walk by and ask us what are we doing cannot believe that we are camping out here for the iphone.

14 more days to go!

iPhone 6 Quest: Day 1

Day 1
image

After a 22hr intercontinental flight from Hong Kong, I was finally there, at the big apple, New York city, the one that never sleeps. The same city that inspired Sinatra, Scorsese, and Warhol. I got there at around 10:30pm and made my way to the corner of 5th Ave and 58th St, where Jonah was already waiting for me. Yes, we were there, in front of the most important store Apple has in the world, ready to wait in line for the new iPhone 6.

This sidewalk will be our home, our desk, our living room, study room, and office for the next 2 weeks because, if rumors are true, we won’t be able to put our hands on a brand new iPhone 6 until September 19th. Well, first night sleeping on the street…

Wish us luck!

Cheers!
